Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I convert a PDF to images?
- Upload your PDF file, choose the image quality (Standard, High, or Maximum), and click "Convert to Images." Each page of your PDF will be rendered as a separate PNG image that you can download individually.
- Is it safe to convert my PDF here?
- Yes. PDFArc processes everything directly in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to a server. The conversion happens entirely on your device, so your documents remain completely private.
- What image format are the pages converted to?
- Each page is converted to a PNG image. PNG is a lossless format that preserves text sharpness and supports transparency, making it ideal for document pages.
- What do the quality settings mean?
- Standard (72 DPI) produces smaller files suitable for screen viewing. High (150 DPI) is the default and works well for most uses including presentations and sharing. Maximum (300 DPI) creates print-quality images with the highest detail, resulting in larger file sizes.
- Is there a page limit?
- There is no fixed page limit. However, very large PDFs (100+ pages) may take longer to process since each page is rendered sequentially to keep memory usage under control. Your browser handles the entire conversion.
- Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
- Currently, password-protected PDFs cannot be converted. You will need to remove the password protection first using a PDF unlock tool before converting to images.
